What do I get when I buy a plan?

A print-ready PDF (US Letter, 16 to 24 pages depending on the build), ready to download straight after checkout. Each plan includes the restored original drawing, an exploded view and dimensioned views of the finished build, a materials list, a hardware schedule, a cut list and an illustrated step for every assembly job. Every plan also has a Remix page, and most add a modern-build track with screws and today's materials.

Is anything shipped?

The PDF plans, the bundles and the Halloween minis are digital downloads: nothing ships. The Printed Workshop Edition (a coil-bound, full-colour copy of the plan, PDF included) and the wall prints of the original sheets are printed to order and posted to you. Can I print it?

Yes. The PDFs are laid out for US Letter and print well on a home printer or at a copy shop. A4 printers can use "fit to page". They also read well on a tablet in the workshop. If you'd rather have it printed for you, choose the Printed Workshop Edition on the plan's page.

Are the plans in metric?

The drawings are dimensioned in feet and inches, as the originals were. The materials list, cut list and steps give metric sizes alongside, and the materials list gives today's actual lumber sizes in millimetres.

I've never built anything like this. Can I do it?

Each product page shows the skill level and expected build time. The steps name the tool for every cut and fastening, and the interactive checklist on each product page lets you tick off the tools you already own before you start.

Are these really USDA plans?

Yes. Every edition is adapted from a public-domain plan published by the USDA and the state Cooperative Extension services. The original sheet is reproduced inside and the source is credited in the plan. Many originals can be found free in university extension archives. What you're buying is our restoration: the redrawing, modern materials, metric sizes, cut list and illustrated assembly, made with the help of AI tools and checked by hand against the original sheet.

Can I sell what I build?

Yes. Build it, use it, sell the finished building. Please don't resell or share the PDF itself.

Do I need a permit?

That depends on where you live and what you're building. Check local building, zoning and animal-housing rules before you start. Dimensions in our plans are planning guidance; verify them on site.

What is "The Remix"?

A page in every plan that turns the same structure into something for the garden or backyard. A hog feeder becomes a tiered flower and herb stand; a poultry house becomes a potting shed. It shows what changes and what stays the same.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you change your mind about a PDF within 14 days, email us and we'll refund it in full. Printed items can be returned within 14 days of delivery, and anything damaged or misprinted is replaced free. The details are in our returns and refunds policy.
